In the context of climate change, the world is jointly embarking on a green transition involving strategic areas and paths, posing countless challenges, but also offering new synergetic economic opportunities.
Vietnam and Thailand, like many Southeast Asian countries, face environmental challenges such as air pollution, waste management issues, and the impacts of climate change. Urban air pollution from vehicles, industries, and agriculture leads to health problems, while plastic waste and improper disposal worsen environmental degradation. Climate change exacerbates these issues, affecting food production and causing stronger storms and erosion.
Both countries are committed to the SDGs, with Vietnam focusing on policy frameworks, and Thailand integrating SDGs into national development strategies. Thailand has prioritized education, healthcare, gender equality, and sustainable consumption. Universities in Thailand are playing a key role in developing green skills and sustainability education, collaborating with industry to offer practical courses for a sustainable future.
